About the event
The NTU Office of Alumni Engagement hosted the "UAE: Opportunities in Investment & Trade" Workshop on 24 February 2026, drawing strong alumni turnout alongside representatives from the UAE Embassy and Dubai Chambers.
The programme welcomed about 50 NTU alumni and featured a UAE market overview, a presentation by Dubai Chambers, and a panel discussion moderated by Dr Brian Shegar, Emeritus Chairman of UAESBC, with panellists Mr David Yat Ho (of AlphaLadder InnovX), Ms Hazleen Ahmad (of Neuropower Pte Ltd), and Mr Kasi Muthiah (of ST Engineering Urban Solutions M.E.) sharing their firsthand experiences building and operating businesses in the UAE.
Discussions covered the UAE's role as a regional orchestration hub, the distinct and complementary functions of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the rise of youth-led digital enterprises, and the growing influence of women-led businesses managing over AED 60 billion in investments.
Speakers also highlighted AI, sustainability, and the knowledge economy as key growth sectors, emphasising that relationships, credibility, and localisation remain critical to long-term success in the GCC.
