Dr Mustafa Izzuddin

Dr Mustafa Izzuddin is Principal Consultant with Global Schools Group (GSG) and teaches at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Islamic University of Indonesia as a Visiting Professor in International Relations. Dr Mustafa’s 21-year career spans the corporate industry, public service, academia and the non-profit sector across ten countries. He received his PhD in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in the United Kingdom, with a specific focus on geopolitics, foreign policy and international development.

He began his career with the ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute and has completed fellowships at Peking University, Cambridge, Oxford and Harvard Kennedy School where he served as a Rajawali Asia Fellow. He was Singapore’s inaugural recipient of the US-ASEAN Fulbright Award, being affiliated to Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service at Washington D.C. Dr Mustafa was also the first Singaporean to be conferred a global fellowship in civilizational dialogue by an international organization affiliated to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), serving as a Professor-Diplomat in Morocco for two years. He is a familiar face in the media circuit as a pundit, being a specialist on Southeast Asia, including its relations with South Asia and the Middle East.

Outside of work, Dr Mustafa has exhibited thirty years of voluntary leadership in community service, youth and family development, social care in public health, interfaith dialogue, social integration, service learning, and educational philanthropy. He has either served or is serving on the management boards of several non-profit outfits across three decades. He is a recipient of national and international awards, including being honoured at the President's Volunteerism and Philanthropy Awards, listed as one of the top 500 most influential Muslims of the world for 2024, 2025 and 2026, and being designated as an Alliance of Civilizations Global Expert by the United Nations. He has also been conferred with individual and team awards by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Commonwealth. He is fluent in English, Malay and Gujarati, proficient in Hindi and Urdu, and has working knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia and Arabic.
