Synopsis:

The UAE is the most diversified economy in the GCC being only 30% dependent on oil and gas. The UAE is also Singapore’s largest trading partner in the Middle East with bilateral trade approximating SGD20 Billion in 2019 and investment flows into Singapore to date of around SGD8 Billion. Hence, the Singapore UAE Comprehensive Partnership was signed in 2019 during the visit of His Royal Highness Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi to further enhance trade and investment flows. This is also within the context of an overall GCC-Singapore FTA that was signed in 2013.

The UAE Singapore Business Council was established in 2018 as the platform for UAE and Singapore companies to connect and explore trade and investment opportunities. Therefore, it is indeed timely that the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI), being the Singapore’s largest and pre-eminent chamber, undertake a joint-seminar to introduce UAE to Singapore companies particularly in the SME sector. Arising from the disruption caused in supply chains and trade relationships from COVID19, Singapore companies could explore new markets such as the UAE for diversifying business opportunities. The webinar entitled “Business Opportunity in the UAE: Impact of COVID19” will feature experts from reputable agencies and institutions who will be speaking live from Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
