The OPL sector represents the most important component of the UAE economy. UAE is estimated to hold the seventh largest proven oil and natural gas reserves. It is also the fourth largest producer of petroleum liquids in OPEC exporting 4 million barrels of oil per day.
UAE was the first Middle Eastern country to export gas to Asia in 1977. Presently, 96% of crude oil exports are targeted to Asia particularly Japan, China and South Korea. Significant investments in downstream activities are being made in construction of refineries, petrochemical plants and pipelines. One of the world’s largest mix-feed cracker is being constructed at the integrated polyolefin facility owned by the Abu Dhabi Polymer Company or Borouge, a joint-venture between ADNOC and Borealis.
We are fortunate to feature speakers representing four key industry leaders namely, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Borouge, Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) and Horizon Terminals. The presentations will address the significant challenges faced by the industry both in the UAE and globally from the COVID-19 Pandemic. We trust that the UAESBC’s Oil, Petrochemical and Logistics Seminar will benefit Singapore companies who may be interested in pursuing opportunities in this major sector in the light of current circumstances.
