OPL 2022: Challenges in the Age of Uncertainty, 17 Aug

Updated: Nov 29, 2022

The Oil, Petrochemical and Logistics sector represents the most important component of the UAE economy. UAE holds the seventh largest proven oil and natural gas reserves. It is also the third largest producer of petroleum liquids in OPEC producing an average of 3 million barrels of oil per day. In his inaugural National Address on 13th July 2022, UAE President His Excellency Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that the UAE will continue to consolidate the nation’s position as a reliable energy provider, and support global energy security as a fundamental driver of global economic growth and development.

UAE was the first Middle Eastern country to export gas to Asia in 1977. Presently, 96% of crude oil exports are targeted to Asia particularly Japan, China and South Korea. Significant investments in downstream activities are being made in construction of refineries, petrochemical plants and pipelines.

The OPL 2022 will feature speakers representing key industry leaders based in the UAE namely, Borouge, Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) and First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) who will address the significant challenges faced and trends forecasted within the industry both in the UAE and globally in this current age of uncertainty brought about by the COVID variant waves, supply chain disruptions and war in Ukraine.

In our panel discussion, business owners will also be able to learn from the valuable experiences and perspectives of established companies like Horizon Terminals, PEC Ltd and Rotary Engineering who have presence both in Singapore and the UAE.

We trust that the OPL 2022 will benefit companies who are in this major sector who want to gain valuable knowledge and insights from the strategies and lessons of the big players in the industry especially with the challenges faced in this age of uncertainty.
