Webinar Highlights Many Opportunities for Singapore Businesses in the UAE in the Post COVID19 Era


On Wednesday, 31st March 2021, the UAE Singapore Business Council (UAESBC) organised a a webinar in joint collaboration with two major local business chambers namely, the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SICCI) and the Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SMCCI). The webinar entitled "Business Opportunities in the UAE in the Post COVID19 Era" was attended by more than 90 participants. The webinar is a precursor for a joint business mission to the UAE among members of the 3 business organisations in conjunction with EXPO2020 Dubai between October 2021 to March 2022.


The event was graced by special guests:

  • His Excellency Mohamed Ali Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ras Al Khaimah Chamber (UAE) and the UAE based Patron of the UAESBC who gave the Opening Address.

  • Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Chairman of Business China (Singapore), Patron of the UAESBC and former Singapore Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry who shared his Closing Remarks on the event proceedings and presentations.

  • Mr Larry Ng, Commissioner General, Singapore Pavilion, Expo 2020 Dubai UAE and Prize Secretary, Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize who gave a brief introduction about Singapore's participation in the EXPO2020 Dubai

The event featured renowned agencies and business organsations from both the UAE and Singapore. The first part of the webinar speakers representing UAE entities namely Emirates NBD (Bank), Abu Dhabi Chamber and Dubai Chamber presented on the economic outlook for the UAE and the GCC region in the coming months as well as the opportunities in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in terms of sectors and government support. Following that audiences got a glimpse of the beautiful award-winning Singapore Pavilion at the EXPO2020 Dubai by URA Senior Planner, Mr Chan Jun Biao.


The second part of the webinar was a Q&A panel discussion moderated by UAESBC President, Dr Brian Shegar, that featured representatives of Emirates NBD, local and UAE chambers and business organisations. The five panelists gave brief introductions to organisations and shared perspectives of why Singapore businesses should take the leap into the UAE market as a stable springboard to their internationalisation aspirations.
