The UAE Singapore Business Council presented our flagship event entitled “UAE Investment Workshop 2021: Opportunities in Smart City and IT” on 7th December 2021. The webinar was graced by GOH, His Excellency Jamal Al Suwaidi, UAE Ambassador to Singapore and UAESBC Patron who presented the Opening Address while UAESBC President, Dr Brian Shegar, gave the Closing Remarks. The UAE Investment Workshop series is a flagship event organize annually in conjunction with the UAE National Day on 2nd December.
The webinar featured a distinguished line-up of industry experts representing key UAE agencies namely Abu Dhabi Investment Office and Digital Dubai; smart city industry leader, Surbana Jurong; and successful SMEs in the field: uHoo, Groundup.Ai, Graymatics and KDi Asia.
UAESBC Corporate Sponsor Member, Surbana Jurong, represented by Mr Eugene Seah, leveraged on SJ’s extensive expertise and experience in integrated smart city solutions to deliver a broad overview of this important and evolving sector and demonstrated how megatrends in smart city and IT will change the way we live, work and play.
Head of FDI for the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, Mr Salvatore Lavallo, highlighted in his presentation the importance the Emirate of Abu Dhabi places on investments in ICT innovations by rolling out attractive incentives and funding to ensure that the UAE continues to be the most attractive ICT markets in the Middle East.
Ms Aisha Al Bokisha from Digital Dubai demonstrated unequivocally in her presentation the Emirate of Dubai’s keenness in the implementation and adaptation of cutting-edge smart city solutions to secure Dubai as the digital capital of the world.
An interesting and engaging panel discussion ensued with representatives from Singapore based Smart City/IT entrepreneurs and experts namely:

The panel was ably moderated by Mr P Ramakrishna, CEO, CIO Academy and a Member of the UAESBC who has extensive background in IT covering both public and private sector. The panelists discussed their innovative and interesting products, services, experiences and perspectives in the smart city and IT domain.
The UAESBC President, Dr Brian Shegar rounded off the event by giving the Closing Remarks where he recorded UAESBC’s appreciation to the GOH, speakers, panelists, moderator and emcee, Ms Amanda Williams from Borouge. Dr Shegar also congratulated the UAE's visionary leadership under His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and acknowledged that the milestones achieved in UAE's 50 years of nationhood are monumental and an inspiration to all developing countries.
