On 18th November, the UAESBC presented our final serving of the UAESBC Quarterly Talk Series* for 2020 featuring Dr Brian Shegar, President of the UAESBC. The talk was attended by about 50 people via Zoom from the Asian region including South Korea, UAE and Thailand. We would especially like to thank His Excellency Salem Amer Al Shamsi, Charge d'Affaires ad interim, UAE Embassy in Singapore, for gracing the event with his Opening Speech.
Dr Shegar, who has more than 40 years experience in banking across the world including the Middle East, shared information and findings of his in-depth research into the history and significant themes on the Middle East. He explained that the talk is a distillation of a one-day workshop conducted by Dr Shegar for post-graduate students at the Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) in NTU. We have received positive feedback from some attendees who found the talk enlightening and has given them a better understanding of the intricacies of the Middle East through an interesting and concise presentation.
Stay tuned for our first talk of the series next year in Q1 of 2021!
*The UAESBC Quarterly Talk Series is an intimate platform featuring high profile speakers to the Singaporean audience. In normal pre-Covid circumstances, the talks would be held over a light business breakfast. We have retained the ambiance of intimacy in the current web format of the series by ensuring that attendees are given direct access to the speaker by allowing video to video communication to the speaker during the Q&A.
