UAESBC @ THE HEARTLANDS- Corporate Social Responsibility Project 2021

Updated: Mar 3, 2022

As part of UAESBC's Corporate Social Responsibility project for 2021, members of the Executive Committee spent 4 weekends across January and February 2022 with disadvantaged families in the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC and Bukit Panjang SMC. The sessions were in partnership with Bukit Panjang CCC (Citizens' Consultative Committee) to help 80 disadvantaged families within the two constituencies. The beneficiaries were assessed and identified by the CCC to be of low income background who were significantly affected during this Pandemic era. UAESBC's donation of $10,000 was matched 3 times by the North West Community Development Council (CDC) which meant that a total of SGD $40,000 were donated to the beneficiaries. Due to social distancing protocol, the distribution sessions were divided into smaller groups in the respective divisions and were graced by the Member of Parliament (MP) of each constituency ward namely: Senior Minister of State Sim Ann (Bukit Timah), Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan (Cashew), MP Christopher de Souza (Ulu Pandan), MP Liang Eng Hwa (Bukit Panjang) and MP Edward Chia Bing Hui (Zhenghua).

Each of the 80 families received a SGD $500 worth of grocery voucher from NTUC along with a goodie bag consisting of a box of biscuit treats sponsored by UAESBC Corporate Sponsor, Global Schools Foundation, a bag tag from Etihad Airways, and a stationery set from UAESBC Secretariat. The UAESBC extends our thanks to all the MPs and officers in the Peoples' Association for their support and reserve our special thanks to UAESBC Member and Auditor of the Senja-Cashew Division, Mr Leonard Thangavelu (PBM) for coordinating this impactful project.
